Missouri softball defeats Texas Tech 4-1

The No. 13 Missouri softball team defeated Texas Tech 4-1 Saturday in Lubbock, Texas.

The Tigers (25-3) won their 22nd consecutive game and improved to 3-0 against Big 12 opponents. Texas Tech (35-2) had won 11 straight, with its other loss against Alcorn State on March 11.

Sophomore Chelsea Thomas (11-2) pitched all seven innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out seven. After starting out 0-2, Thomas has won 11 straight decisions.

Freshman Maddison Ruggeberg went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. She singled in the first inning to score senior Rhea Taylor and hit a two-out solo home run in seventh inning.

Missouri outhit Texas Tech 11-3 and the Tigers left seven runners on base.

Missouri will play Texas Tech at noon on Sunday in Lubbock to finish its two-game weekend series.
