LETTER: Helen Anthony is right councilperson for Fifth Ward job

Monday, March 28, 2011 | 4:29 p.m. CDT

I'm thankful that Helen Anthony wants to work for the Columbia City Council. While serving on the city's Planning and Zoning Commission, she has gained experience working through divisive and complicated issues to come to an informed and reasoned decision.

As she says on her website, "Her focus centers on planning — planning for growth, planning for economic progress and planning for quality of life. While some people see planning as a limit on growth, Helen sees it as an opportunity to build on the strengths of our community and to create a path that assures that Columbia knows where it wants to go and understands the opportunities and costs of getting there."

Please plan on voting for Helen Anthony for Fifth Ward on April 5.

Dee Dokken lives in Columbia's First Ward.
