The Missouri softball team's 24-game winning streak ended with a 9-2 loss to North Texas in the second game of a doubleheader split Wednesday with the Mean Green in Denton, Texas.
Missouri won the first game 4-1. The No. 11 Tigers' record moves to 27-4.
In the opener, sophomore pitcher Chelsea Thomas earned the victory, striking out 11, walking one and allowing five hits in seven innings. She struck out the side in the seventh to finish off her 13th straight victory. Ashley Fleming hit a home run and a double and drove in three runs.
Tigers junior pitcher Kristin Nottelmann lost her first game of the season in the second game, giving up seven hits in six innings, including four home runs. Nottelman fell to 11-1 this season. North Texas' nine runs are the most Missouri has allowed this season.
Trailing 5-2 in the top of the fifth, Missouri had runners on first and third, but North Texas pitcher Brittany Simmons got Fleming to pop out to end the Tigers' threat.
