LETTER: Pam Forbes understands Columbia's needs

Friday, April 1, 2011 | 9:42 a.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — In a field of four strong First Ward City Council candidates, Pam Forbes brings the best experience, insight and commitment. She would be a fine council member, both to represent her ward and to view Columbia's common good with thoroughness, honesty and intelligence.

Forbes' platform emphasizes the necessity to:

1. Improve infrastructure such as sewers, roads and sidewalks;

2. Support and assist children's education and well being;

3. Plan community growth rationally. She serves on Community Development Commission;

4. Commit to solving difficult economic problems regarding employment, business start-up, housing.

Pam Forbes genuinely understands and lives her understanding of this crucial truth of civic life: "We all do better when we all do better." She will serve the First Ward and the rest of Columbia well.

Catherine Parke lives in Columbia's Fourth Ward. She and Pam Forbes have worked together through volunteer activities such as voter registration.
