LETTER: Anthony deserves vote for Fifth Ward seat on City Council

COLUMBIA — Helen Anthony deserves our vote for the City Council. As a plain-spoken attorney who talks in sentences free from mental reservations, she would provide the needed balance on the new City Council. Her years of experience on our Planning and Zoning Commission have given her a unique perspective into city governance: There is always a tension between developers of inexpensive land and city taxpayers and ratepayers who carry the burden for infrastructure (arterial roads, schools, parks, fire houses, police substations, sewer, water, electrical, cable and fiber) and future maintenance of roads and public safety personnel and equipment.
