Missouri baseball team drops second game at Texas

The Missouri baseball team lost 5-2 to Texas on Saturday at Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Texas. The loss drops Missouri to 13-14 overall and 1-3 in Big 12 Conference play.

Tigers sophomore Scott Sommerfeld tallied a pinch-hit one-out single to left field, scoring a pair of runs in the seventh inning.  

Junior starter Matt Stites was tagged with the loss, giving up five runs and nine hits in eight innings. Lucas Kephart went 2-for-4 at the plate for No. 8 Texas (20-7,6-2-0 Big 12), driving in all five of the Longhorns' runs.

Texas starter Hoby Milner earned the win, giving up three hits in six 1/3 innings. Freshman Dillon Everett tallied the lone extra-base hit for the Tigers with a two-out double off of the left field wall.

Missouri is set to play the final game of its three-game series at Texas at noon Sunday.
