COLUMBIA — The bridge over Little Cedar Creek on I-70 Northeast Outer Road, one mile east of Route Z, will be closed to traffic for approximately 57 days, Susan Ball, the bridge improvement program's coordinator, said.

Motorists will have to find alternate routes around the bridge due to construction that started Wednesday to replace the bridge, Ball said.

The bridge is being replaced as a part of MoDOT's Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Program, she said.

The program's goal is to repair or replace 800 of the worst bridges in Missouri by the end of 2013. Ninety of these bridges are in mid-Missouri. Under the state program, more than 332 bridges have been improved so far, Ball said.
