Missouri Symphony Society reaches fundraising goal

COLUMBIA — The Missouri Symphony Society exceeded its April 1 goal of raising $100,000 by nearly $30,000. The society now has enough money to perform at the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts as part of the Hot Summer Nights Music Festival.

Supporters rallied to raise funds after last year's concert was canceled because of debt and a drooping economy.

Hot Summer Nights will include orchestra concerts, chamber recitals, guest artists and family concerts. The festival runs from June 11 to July 9. Maestro Kirk Trevor will have more information and specific performance details soon.
