Hickman baseball wins two of three in Jefferson City

COLUMBIA — The Hickman baseball team won two of its three games during the weekend at the Capitol City Tournament in Jefferson City.

The Kewpies (6-5) beat Blair Oaks 8-2 on Saturday after losing to Rockhurst 5-1 and beating Rockwood 8-1 in a doubleheader on Friday.

Against Blair Oaks, Hickman was led by senior starting pitcher Tyler Kemble, who pitched five innings, allowed two hits, two runs, no earned runs, two walks and struck out six.

Senior Grant Harper went 2-for-3, scored two runs and had an RBI. Senior outfielder Joey Smith also batted in a run while scoring two.

The Hickman baseball team hosts Rock Bridge High School at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
