JEFFERSON CTIY — Missouri Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon has reported raising $1.7 million during the past six months for his re-election campaign next year.
Nixon's campaign committee said Friday it had $2 million in the bank at the end of March and had spent $625,000. The governor's campaign says the fundraising shows strong early support.
Friday was the deadline for candidates to file required finance reports with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder is expected to challenge Nixon next year.
