Missouri storm causes scattered flooding, damage

JEFFERSON CITY — A spring storm has caused scattered flooding, power outages and hail and wind damage in Missouri.

The National Weather Service says a tornado might have touched down Friday afternoon near the eastern Missouri towns of Chaffee and Kelso.

A double-wide mobile home was destroyed near Chaffee. And near the neighboring town of Oran, a shed was destroyed and another double-wide was damaged.

The weather service had also received reports of golf ball-size hail in downtown Cape Girardeau.

Scattered power outages were reported from Jefferson City to Benton.

And the Springfield New-Leader says three construction workers were rescued by members of the Logan-Rogersville Fire District after their truck became submerged when the James River overflowed its banks and flooded the road. No one was injured.
