COLUMBIA — Boone County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a 26-year-old man charged in connection with the shooting death of a 27-year-old man just north of Columbia.

The Boone County prosecuting attorney's office issued an arrest warrant for Deangelo T. Grant of 2221 Primrose Drive on suspicion of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and first-degree burglary, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release.

"During the course of following up with leads and talking to people, we were able to establish probable cause," Sheriff's Department Detective Tom O'Sullivan said. "We developed enough evidence to where the prosecuting attorney was comfortable issuing a warrant."

Donnell Gregory Coleman was killed in an apparent home invasion late Sunday night at 7711 La Porte Ave., Apt. A. Two men forced their way into the apartment and fled after the shooting in a dark colored sedan, according to a department release. Deputies found Coleman with a gunshot wound to his chest. Coleman was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the release.

Deputies are still trying to identify the second man, O'Sullivan said.

The Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information about Grant's whereabouts or the homicide to contact CrimeStoppers at 573-875-8477 or to go to the CrimeStoppers website at
