Missouri baseball junior wins Big 12 Player of the Week

COLUMBIAMissouri baseball junior Conner Mach was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Tuesday by the Big 12 Conference. Mach hit .545 in three games last week, leading the Tigers to their first Big 12 series win of the season at Baylor.

Mach's success comes as he had to make two big transitions. Missouri's series against Baylor was Mach's first as the Tigers' leadoff hitter — he normally hits in the middle of the order — and first in left field. Mach is usually an infielder.

Mach hit his first home run of the season in Friday's game at Baylor, and it was his first since May 21, 2010. He went 6-for-11 and led the Tigers with five RBIs and 10 total bases in the series.

Mach is the first Missouri baseball player to win a Big 12 award of any kind this season.
