COLUMBIA — The Missouri baseball team hit a season-high three home runs, and senior Phil McCormick earned a save to defeat Eastern Illinois 7-5 on Tuesday at TR Hughes Ballpark in O’Fallon.
The Tigers (17-23) have won four of their past six games.
Senior catcher Ryan Ampleman and sophomore infielder Eric Garcia hit their first home runs of the season, and sophomore outfielder Blake Brown hit his fourth.
Brown scored a team-high two runs, and the Tigers got seven RBIs from six different players. Also, all nine Tigers got at least one hit against Eastern Illinois.
Senior starting pitcher Zach Hardoin went three innings, allowing seven hits, two earned runs and one walk. He struck out five batters.
Junior Dusty Ross earned his second win of the season after throwing 1 1/3 innings in relief, allowing just one hit. McCormick earned the save, throwing 1 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and striking out three on 37 pitches.
The Tigers will play Missouri State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Taylor Stadium.
