Aldon Smith was the first Tiger taken in the 2011 NFL draft, going to the San Francisco 49ers at No. 7. The Jacksonville Jaguars then traded up for pick No. 10 and selected Blaine Gabbert, who many expected to go ahead of Smith. The two selections marked the first time two Missouri players have been taken in within the top 10 picks of the NFL draft. Before 2011, Missouri had a total of five top-10 picks.
