Rock Bridge show choir competes at Nationals

COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge high school show choir, City Lights, competed against 10 other schools at the National Show Choir Championship Series in Indianapolis on Saturday morning.

The choir did not make it to the final round of the competition.

There were originally 15 choirs scheduled to compete, but four did not come because their schools' proms were this weekend, said Charles Davis, an associate professor of journalism at MU who was at the competition.

Reaching the national level took months of preparation. The choir was ranked second earlier in April at the regional level in Branson, where it competed against about 20 other schools.

Although City Lights did not advance to the top five at nationals, Davis said the singers performed well.

"They were beautiful," he said.
