COLUMBIA — The Boone County Fire Protection District investigators ruled the cause of a Tuesday morning workshop fire as "undetermined." The fire killed 72-year-old Boone County resident Robert D. Hudson.

"It's been ruled as undetermined due to the severity of the damage to the building," Gale Blomenkamp, Battalion Chief of the Boone County Fire Protection District, said.

He added investigators did not find any indication that the cause of the fire was anything other than accidental.

Emergency workers and firefighters arrived at 5214 S. Cowan Road just after 1 a.m. Tuesday and found Hudson trapped inside a workshop near his home, according to a previous Missourian report.
