Missouri's Thomas named one of 10 finalists for national softball award

COLUMBIA — Missouri sophomore pitcher Chelsea Thomas has been named one of 10 finalists for USA Softball's Collegiate Player of the Year Award. She is the first player the Tigers have had among the 10 finalists.
Thomas has led the No. 6 Tigers (43-7, 11-2) to the top of the Big 12 Conference this season with at 25-5 record and a 0.83 ERA, which is second best in the country. With 306 strikeouts so far this year, Thomas also owns the school record for strikeouts in a season.
Finalists for the award will be narrowed to three on May 25, and the winner will be announced May 31.
