Thunderstorms could delay Philips Park dedication and fishing derby

Friday, May 20, 2011 | 3:43 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — If you were planning to attend the dedication and fishing derby at Philips Park Saturday morning, the weather might be something to watch.

The event will not be canceled unless thunder and lightning occur, and will be decided the morning of the event based on the weather conditions, according to Tammy Miller, public information specialist for the Parks and Recreation Commission.

Participants can call the special events cancellation hot line at 874-7663 on Saturday morning to confirm the status of the dedication and fishing derby.
