Rock Bridge senior tennis players claim state doubles title

Rock Bridge senior tennis players Jimmy Hunter and Joe LaRose won the Class 2 state doubles title Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.

They beat Joseph Monaldo and John Seigfreid from Rockhurst 6-2, 6-2 in the finals.

Hunter and LaRose are the third consecutive doubles team from Rock Bridge to win the doubles championship.

LaRose won the tournament in 2010 with Sam Johnson, and Blake Buchert and Aaron Skinner won in 2009.

Junior Ford Zitsch finished second in the singles bracket.

The Bruins won their second consecutive team state title on Thursday.
