PHOTO GALLERY: Scenes from Memorial Day

Monday, May 30, 2011 | 8:49 p.m. CDT
Cameron Blacklock (8) and his mother, Rebecca Blacklock search Monday for the grave marker for his grandfather, a veteran, at Memorial Park Cemetery. They were joined by scores of others who came to the cemetery to mourn on Memorial Day.

Some residents spent the hot spring day remembering loved ones and visiting Memorial Park Cemetery, and others tried to keep cool at Pinnacles Youth Park and in their yards.

In an effort to remain cool in Monday's 86 degree high, Loreal Harvey, 11, (center) and her brother, Ben Gallentine, 8, right, receive a hose spray-down from their cousin Susan Martin, 17.
Amber Gustafson and her eight-year-old daughter, Sadie, search for frogs at Pinnacles Youth Park Monday afternoon. The pair was at a BBQ with family and friends during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
