Man arrested in connection with Rent 1st burglaries

COLUMBIA — A 28-year-old man was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of breaking into a rental store and attempting to steal a television, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Ricardo D. Thompson was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, first-degree property damage and felony stealing, according to the release.

Two officers were conducting surveillance at Rent 1st, 18 Business Loop 70 E., Suite A, after several burglaries at the business over the past few weeks, according to the release.

The officers saw Thompson throw a brick through the window, enter the business and leave with a television worth more than $1,200, according to the release. 

Thompson was being held at Boone County Jail as of Friday afternoon on a $15,000 bond.
