LETTER: Columbia steps up to help Letter Carriers Food Drive

Monday, June 20, 2011 | 4:35 p.m. CDT

On May 14, thousands of Columbia residents gave food and monetary gifts to the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive to benefit The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri. It is the largest single-day food drive in the nation.

On that Saturday, Branch 763 collected more than 155,000 pounds of food, including monetary gifts, from the generous citizens of Columbia and the surrounding area.

On behalf of The Food Bank and the letter carriers of Branch 763, we sincerely thank you.

Ray Janicek is the food drive coordinator for the National Association of Letter Carriers.
