COLUMBIA — A Columbia woman died and two others were injured in an accident Tuesday night in Callaway County.
Twenty-eight-year-old Stephanie R. Carter was a passenger in a 2003 Chevrolet that was heading eastbound on Interstate 70 when the vehicle began to skid and ran off the right side of the road near mile marker 141, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report. The vehicle then traveled into a steep ditch and overturned multiple times, according to the report.
According to the report, Carter was pronounced dead on the scene by Callaway County Medical Examiner John Stewart.
The driver, 24-year-old Sha’u’ntoryi C. Jones, of Columbia, and a passenger, Marceino C. Moore, 27, were both ejected from the vehicle.
Jones and Moore were taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.
A University Hospital spokeswoman said that Moore was treated for his injuries and released this morning and that Jones was in fair condition as of noon Wednesday.
