COLUMBIA — Officers were dispatched to an armed robbery of a female employee at the Landmark Bank on Paris Road early Friday morning.

The employee was not injured, and the robber did not gain entry to the bank, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

As the employee was arriving at the bank around 7:30 a.m., the robber, dressed in black clothing and a mask, came out of the bushes with a handgun and took the employee’s car keys attached to her wallet, the release stated.

The robber took the employee’s car and drove east on Mexico Gravel Road. Officers found the car abandoned but still running at the intersection of Alpine Drive and Mexico Gravel Road, and the wallet was still attached to the keys. Officers located the robber’s clothes abandoned in the near tree line. The robber was last seen running south from Alpine Drive and Mexico Gravel Road, according to the release.

No arrests have been made at this time.
