COLUMBIA — Storms that hit Columbia early this morning caused several power outages around the city.

Traffic signals at Interstate 70 and Range Line Street are not working, and motorists should avoid the area until signals are up and running again, according to the Columbia Water and Light Department.

The department also reported a power outage near Stadium Boulevard and Audubon Road.

A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect for Boone County until 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in St. Louis.
