COLUMBIA — Paris Road between College Avenue and Ammonette Street will be undergoing repairs until Friday evening.
The Columbia Public Works Department began asphalt street repairs at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
During the project, there will be times where one lane of Paris Road will be down, and signs and flaggers will help direct traffic, Sam Thomas, the city's street and stormwater manager, said. He does not think the construction will cause any major backups.
Thomas said parts of the road failed during the winter, and the department is working on repairing the asphalt and making permanent patches to the damaged area.
Weather permitting, the city plans to complete the repairs and fully reopen the road by 5 p.m. Friday.
Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use extreme caution while in the construction area and to take alternate routes when possible, according to a news release from the department.
