COLUMBIA — Police were still looking for a 36-year-old black man who is a suspect in connection with the Tuesday morning kidnapping of a 35-year-old Columbia woman.

The man, Arthur C. Williams, is suspected of assaulting and kidnapping his girlfriend from her home at 1403 Greensboro Drive in Columbia just after 11 a.m., Columbia Police Department Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer said.

Williams was last seen near the MU Women's and Children's Hospital in the area of Keene Street, leaving on foot.

Stroer said Williams left the woman and her car at the hospital, and police were notified just after 1 p.m. The woman was being evaluated for injuries, and investigators were speaking with her about possible charges against Williams.

Williams is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Police are asking anyone with information about Williams’ location to call 875-TIPS.
