SPRINGFIELD — A southwest Missouri company that refurbishes the engines of used cars is growing.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that PROFormance Powertrain Products plans to more than double its 100-person workforce with the addition of 131 positions. Officials said the jobs will be added over the next three to four years.

Joseph Boutross of parent company LKQ Corp. said the company thought it was important to expand capacity at the Springfield plant to meet customer demand.

Rob Dixon of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce said the average wages for the new jobs are expected to be at or above the county average of nearly $34,000.

Dixon said the company will receive tax incentives of $415,000, spread out over five years.
