Suspect arrested in connection with knife stabbing

COLUMBIA — Columbia Police Department officers responded to a report of a large fight at 11:45 p.m. Thursday at Tenth Street and Broadway.

A 19-year-old male victim was stabbed twice when officers arrived, Columbia Police Department Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer said.

Stroer said she is still waiting for more information on the exact number of people involved in the fight.

A suspect, Deon Woods, was arrested on suspicion of armed criminal action and first-degree assault, according to a police department release.

The victim was taken to a hospital with a collapsed lung, according to the release.
