COLUMBIA — Lyle Harris, a respected jazz guitarist in Columbia, died Friday, July 1, 2011.

Friends Jon Poses and Lee Ruth said they were informed via e-mail and Facebook, respectively.

“I knew him as a wonderful musician,” Poses said.

Although Harris, 77, had moved to Ozark more than a decade ago and his health had been declining for the past few years, he still made sporadic appearances in Columbia to perform, Ruth said.

“Lyle was a really important person in the last 50 years of Columbia music,” Ruth said. "He was somebody I really admired and respected."
