Man robs Merchants and Farmers Bank

COLUMBIA – Columbia police are investigating a robbery that took place at Merchants and Farmers Bank at 4000 Rangeline St. on Friday. The suspect left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, and no one was injured.

The police received the call at 4:33 p.m.

The suspect was described as a male around 5 feet 10 inches tall and a thin build. He was wearing a white cap, sunglasses, a long blue button-down shirt, khaki pants and white shoes.

“The suspect walked in, walked up to the teller and implied that he had a gun, but he never showed it. He took the money and left,” Sgt. Jill Wieneke said.

It is currently unknown how the suspect left the scene. The police do not have any suspects or leads as of Saturday evening and are continuing their investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crime to call 875-TIPS.
