COLUMBIA — No injuries were sustained after a fire destroyed a shed and spread to a portion of a nearby mobile home Monday afternoon, Assistant Fire Marshal Debbie Sorrell said.

The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched at 3:04 p.m. to 2904 Range Line St., which is in a mobile home park.

A neighbor passing by alerted the homeowner, Marie Crews, and two others inside of a shed on fire, said Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief James Weaver.

The shed was located at the back of the mobile home, which caused some damage to the home, according to a news release. Fire fighters extinguished the fire in about seven minutes, according to a release.

Weaver said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Smoke alarms were working in the residence at the time of the fire, Sorrell said.

Damages are estimated at $10,000, she said.
