Tuesday, July 12, 2011 | 1:19 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — Studio B Dance Center will host a benefit for Albina Lewis, a burn survivor, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Lewis was burned in a Feb. 23 fire in her Columbia apartment. Her medical expenses have surpassed $2 million, according to an event news release.

Organizers aim to raise funds for her medical and living expenses.

Beginner dance lessons are scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., and a silent auction and social gathering will follow at 7:30 p.m. No partner is necessary.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at Studio B Dance Center at 2909 Falling Leaf Lane. A $15 donation is requested, with all proceeds going toward Lewis' recovery. Donations can also be made at any Boone County National Bank to the Fund for the Benefit of Albina Lewis.
