Boone County under severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m.

COLUMBIA — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch Tuesday for mid-Missouri, including Boone County. The watch is in effect until 9 p.m.

Other Missouri counties under the watch include: Adair, Audrain, Callaway, Chariton, Clark, Franklin, Howard, Jefferson, Knox, Lewis, Lincoln, Linn, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montomery, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, Saline, Schuyler, Scotland, Shelby, St. Charles, St. Louis and Warren.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis predicts a 30 percent chance of showers during the day. The chance of showers will increase to 50 percent Tuesday night.

The thunderstorms could be capable of hail and damaging wind.
