Missouri football player nominated for national award

COLUMBIA — Missouri tight end Michael Egnew is nominated for the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, an honor that showcases community service accomplishments.

Egnew is active in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, regularly visits patients at the Women's and Children's Hospital and makes appearances to the Youth Football League throughout the year.

Members of the team include Super Bowl champion quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer and 2011 NFL player Christian Ponder.

Michael should have won the John Mackey Award last season. He is an excellent citizen and had by far the best stats of any college tight end.
