COLUMBIA — A 39-year-old Columbia woman whose cellular phone was struck by lightning around 6 p.m. Saturday at Cosmopolitan Park was released from University Hospital shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday.

As of 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the woman showed no signs or symptoms of a lightning strike, according to hospital sources, reported Emily Lorenz, marketing and media coordinator for the Show-Me State Games.

At the time of the incident, Show-Me State Games events were not being played because of lightning, and Show-Me State Games representatives on site were advising participants and spectators to take shelter, Lorenz wrote in a news release.
