Weather Service extends excessive heat warning

Monday, July 25, 2011 | 10:28 a.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The National Weather Service in St. Louis says an excessive heat warning will remain in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday for Boone County and surrounding areas.

Heat index values Monday and Tuesday are forecast to be as high as 101.

Although the air temperature is expected to drop throughout the week with all forecast highs under 98, the intensity of the weather is expected to peak Wednesday with heat index values expected between 105 and 115.
