Stephens College hosts New York City youth for filmmaking workshop

COLUMBIA — A group of New York City charter school students is spending the week in Columbia for a filmmaking workshop at Stephens College.

The women's college is hosting eight students from Girls Prep Lower East Side Middle School, a tuition-free, all-girls charter school. They're staying in Stephens residence halls as part of a weeklong college experience.

The Stephens program is modeled on a local partnership between Columbia Public Schools and the annual Citizen Jane Film Festival. That event showcases female filmmakers from Missouri and across the country.
