Police seek suspects in attempted armed robbery at Taco Bell

COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department is still looking for two men suspected in an attempted armed robbery at a Taco Bell restaurant late Monday night.

According to a news release from the police department's public information officer, Latisha Stroer, police were dispatched to the Taco Bell on 1100 Smiley Lane at 9:59 p.m.

A shot was fired inside by one man, according to the release, but there were no severe injuries.

One employee was hit by a fragment or debris in the lower leg but was not transported to the hospital, according to the news release.

After the bullet was fired, two men bolted from the scene before police arrived. The men did not take anything from the restaurant.

Police are asking those with information to contact the Columbia Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS.
