SEDALIA — There will be a barbecue contest once again at the upcoming Missouri State Fair.

The fair has brought back the barbecue contest and it's taking participant entries, but the deadline is Monday. The Kansas City Star reports that the contest, scheduled for Aug. 12, will host up to 30 teams competing in burger, wing and bratwurst categories.

Entry forms are on the fair's website at

The last Saturday of the fair is the "sale of champions," when prized livestock will be sold. Last year, the sale brought in $100,000 for scholarships.

The 109th Missouri State Fair runs Aug. 11-21 in Sedalia.
