Buddy Packs include food such as canned fruit, cereal, pudding, dried fruit, pasta, nuts and juices. The Food Bank provides the packs to students who are in jeopardy of hunger during weekends and holidays. Students who are registered for the free or reduced cost lunch program qualify for Buddy Packs.

According to the Food Bank's website, "Around 55,000 students in (our) service area qualify for free and reduced-priced school meals."

A news release from Commerce Bank said that the cost to provide a single student with a Buddy Pack for a school year is approximately $100.

The Food Bank uses donated food items and is currently asking for peanut butter, one of the more expensive items needed to fill the packs.
