Missouri volleyball opens with Black-and-Gold scrimmage

COLUMBIA — The Missouri volleyball team opened its 2011 season with the annual Black-and-Gold Scrimmage at the Hearnes Center, and the Gold Team topped the Black Team 3-0 Friday night.

Freshman Emily Wilson led the way for the Tigers with 16 kills on .368 hitting with a pair of solo blocks.

Whitney Little, another freshman, finished with 11 kills on 23 attacks. Also on offense, sophomore Lisa Henning picked up right where she left off following her All-Big 12 Freshman Team performance in 2010. She finished the match with 14 kills on 26 attacks with just four errors.

Defensively, senior libero Priscilla Armendariz led the way with 14 digs while freshman defensive specialist Jade Hayes finished with 11 digs.

Missouri will open the season with the annual Tiger Invitational next weekend at the Hearnes Center.
