Suspect wanted in Days Inn shooting

Police have identified a suspect in a shooting Wednesday night at the Days Inn Hotel, 1900 I-70 Drive S.W.

The release said the suspect, Damoris Pierce, 19, displayed a gun and tried to rob the victim when the gun fired into the victim's chest. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was taken by personal vehicle to University Hospital Emergency Room, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. The release said his wounds are not considered life threatening.

The shooting was drug-related, the department said. Pierce is wanted for assault in the first degree, armed criminal action and other outstanding warrants, the release stated. Pierce is a black male who is 6 feet 4 inches tall, 165 pounds and has short black hair.

Police ask anyone who has information on Pierce's whereabouts to call the police department at 874-7448. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS.
