KINGDOM CITY — A man was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of second-degree marijuana possession and trafficking, said Paul Reinsch, public information officer for the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jose Lopez, 30, of Cottonwood, Ariz., was pulled over for following too closely on Interstate 70 near the Kingdom City exit around 9 p.m., Reinsch said.

Officers requested to search Lopez's SUV, but he refused. The officers conducted a K-9 search, which Reinsch said officers may conduct at their discretion when they suspect criminal activity. The search revealed 132 pounds of marijuana stored in the cargo area of Lopez's SUV.

Lopez was being held at Callaway County Jail on a bond of $50,000.
