COLUMBIA — The Hickman girls volleyball team earned its first win of the season Thursday night beating visiting Rolla 25-15, 25-17.

Freshman Deidre Mattson led the team with 13 digs, and senior Sarah Miller had a team-high six kills. Kimberly Lake and Lindsey Head each added five kills.

Although it was only the second match of the season, coach Greg Gunn said he is already seeing improvements.

“We just played with a lot more enthusiasm and energy tonight,” Gunn said.

The team had only two receiving errors compared to the 11 they had in Tuesday night’s game against Hannibal. Gunn said he was impressed with the team’s 13 aces and that the only negative point was 10 service errors.

The Kewpies will play their first road game Tuesday evening at Booneville.
