Missouri volleyball team falls to Middle Tennessee State

COLUMBIA — The Missouri women’s volleyball team lost its first match of the season, falling 25-13, 28-30, 25-17, 25-15 Thursday at Middle Tennessee State.

Brittney Brimmage and Emily Wilson led the Tigers with 10 kills each. Molly Kreklow had 36 assists. Twenty of those came in the second set, giving her a season high. Pricilla Armendariz had a team-high eight digs.

After struggling through the first set, the Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second then had to fight through 10 ties after the 17-minute mark. Missouri won it with consecutive kills from Wilson and Lisa Henning.

The Tigers struggled against a Raiders' defense that finished with 11.5 blocks and 46 digs. The Raiders took advantage of the Tigers’ errors in the final two sets.

Missouri will begin play in the Middle Tennessee Blue Raider Bash against Austin Peay at 5 p.m. Friday.
