Missouri women's cross-country finish second at Saluki Early Bird

COLUMBIA — Three freshmen led the Missouri women’s cross-country team to a second-place finish Friday at the Saluki Early Bird in Carbondale, Ill.

Courtney Wood was the first Tiger to finish, with a time of 14 minutes, 59 seconds. Courtney Brownc placed fifth and Maria Effinger ninth.

The men’s team also competed in the race.

Ricky West placed second overall with a time of 12 minutes, 30 seconds. Redshirt freshman JT McCarthy, seventh, and senior Kyle Rood, eighth, also finished in the top ten overall.

The race was Joe Lynn’s first as head coach of the men’s team.
