COLUMBIA — A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

Jimmy Joseph Talton, 18, was being held on a $4,500 bond.

At 10:33 p.m. Friday, deputies with the department responded to a reported robbery in the 1100 block of North Kathryn Street in the Phenora Oaks subdivision, according to the release.

Deputies contacted the victim and the witness. Both said Talton demanded money and he struck the victim after the person refused to hand over any money, according to the news release. Talton continued to demand money and tried to strike the person several more times before Talton ran away from the scene.

Talton was then found in the neighborhood and arrested, according to the release.
