Missouri volleyball team sweeps East Tennessee State

COLUMBIA — The Missouri volleyball team improved to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Middle Tennessee Blue Raider Bash after defeating East Tennessee State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-20), on Saturday.

Missouri senior middle hitter Brittney Brimmage highlighted the match with 18 kills on .773 hitting. In all, Missouri hit .386 in the win.

Missouri had 50 kills in the three sets, which is a team-high in 2011 while ranking third among Big 12 teams in a three-set match this season. Missouri sophomore setter Molly Kreklow spread 43 assists — a Big 12 three-set best this season — on the 50 Missouri kills while helping the Tigers hit .386. Sophomore outside hitter Lisa Henning finished with a season-best 13 kills; she also hit .417 in the match. Freshman outside hitter Katie O’Brien also had a career-best nine kills in the match.

Missouri continues the 12-match tournament located in Murfreesboro, Tenn., when it plays Florida International at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
